Hi we live in NJ.  We have a 5 yr. old German Shorthaired Pointer that we love. She's had anxiety issues since we got her from the breeder and does not do well when separated from us by gates or in a crate. Most recently, we've moved from a rural 2 acre property to a suburban neighborhood. Her anxiety is increasing and she is starting to growl at our toddler and has snapped at a couple visitors. She was just diagnosed with very low thyroid and we have put her on meds for that, as well as Clomicalm for her anxiety. The vet said the new environment and thyroid condition could be causing her change in personality. We've had the vet, trainers, behaviorists and a GSP breeder, say that she is an extremely intelligent and obedient dog who would do well on a farm, a preserve, with a hunter or someone knowledgeable in training. They all feel she can be retrained, but we are worried it will take to long and don't want to expose her to our son while she is rehabilitated.  Because of her intelligence they said even though she was never put on birds before, she could probably learn quickly.  Unfortunately, we no longer have the right environment for her. We want someone interested to know her history up front and do not want to hide anything. We are exhausting all possibilities before we have to put her to sleep.  If you, or anyone you know, might be interested, please contact me.  We are looking to find her a new home immediately.

    Thank you for your time.
