Sorry it took so long to circle back. I took a few days in North Dakota with a buddy. I've never been a huge waterfowler but the shooting up there is really something.
My dog is 10 months old, he's super energetic and seems really birdy. We've done a lot of yard work and he pointed a few pheasants and chukkar at a local preserve.
I went up to the Sleepy Creek WMA on opening day. I didn't flush a bird, but the dog went on two solid points. I'm going back to check it out next week. I've read they are doing a lot of Grouse management there. Also plan to visit the areas around Dolly Sods. I've hiked and camped there since I was a kid- also supposed to hold some birds.
Some upbeat news in an article I read...
