    hm.. guess that I'll risk an opinion, before reading hillbilly's preferrances..
    I shoot 6's at the farm/reserve, and like 4's for late season. But as a happy medium I like #5's, 3 inch, copper coated outta' my 20.

    I also shoot copper-plated #5 from a 20ga. unless non-toxic is required(#4 steel)

    I shoot a O/U so in my first barrel I use 7 shot and in the second 6 shot. In the late season the 6 shot is replaced with 5 shot......Bob

    One thing nobody has mentioned is that your shot size should be worked out with the perfect choke. The range of your shots, over a pointer or flusher and things like that should be taken into account.......Bob

    I like 6's out of my 20ga less holes in pattern and that's what works for me. But 7's in magnum lead reloaded like but on just about everything. But you just can't go out and buy them.

    I use mostly # 6's. But, for wild birds I like to use 4's

    Hillbilly, I use all Remington Gun Club Cases and reload them with this recipe. It works good for me. Really any modern Remington Case will work.

    Remington 209 Primer

    17.8 grs Longshot

    SP20 wad

    1 ounce 7 shot

    Pressure12000 Speed 1220FPS..................Bob

    Thanks Bob,

    I had never heard of Gene Hill untill I went to a semiar at the PF in Madison. So, as the curious man that I am, I looked up the author and just fell in love with most of his stuff. For any of us on here, mostly everything that this man writes hits close to the heart.

    Gene Hill is a great writer. I also like the stuff from Tom Davis as a more contemporary version.
