870 Pump 12 gauge or Steven's SXS 12 for Preserve Pheasant Hunt?

    My brother, cousion and I are heading to a preserve Phesant hunt for Thanksgiving in Northwest Indiana. I have my old Remington 870 pump 12 gauge I have had since youth. But my father in law just let me try TWO Steven's Model 311 12 gauge side by side's. I have hunted upland game with over under 20's before. Which do you you think would be better for the task?

    Either one will do fine. The 870 is a tried and true tool that you seem to also be comfortable with. The side by side may take some adjusting to but will also work well on either preserve or wild birds. I wouldn't use anything larger than a 2 3/4, #6's though as you may end up with mush for birds.

    It's down to which gun do you WANT to use. Both will get the job done. Don't overthink it.
