    Ok, guys -- my just-over-one-year-old gsp is developing a horrible habit. He started doing it about two weeks ago for some reason (maybe got scratched by bird on retrieve). He is kill-biting the birds -- I can hear the quail's breastbone breaking!!! I have heard several people I know tell me the simplist solution is to force-fetch them. Is this the case? If so, can you guys offer suggestions as to who/what program works best? Rommel, my dog, is very mild-mannered (sometimes timid). Anyway, any information you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys.

    Why not try a spiked harness on a pen raised bird first.

    Ya why force fetch a dog that you could ruin. A spiked collar has worked for me but most my dogs always bring birds back dead I kinda like it I don't have to ring their necks but I don't allow a dog to chew them up or eat them. I used the collar a lot and it worked but if it don't there's the old fashion way drive a couple 16 pennies through a frozen bird and cut the ends off they'll stop biting down then. Remember the way to fix the problem is to stop it without you doing the force. A hard bristle brush helps to use it like a bumper.
