I just got back from the Kansas opener.  I hunted private property north of Hays and the pheasant numbers we saw were not at all impressive.  We shot lots of quail but didn't do that good on pheasants.  It did rain all day on Sunday making the hunting miserable.  I still had a great time and have already scheduled my next hunt here in a couple weeks.  My 9 year old shorthair is still the man but my 11 month old lab sure showed he is out of good hunting stock.  Watching the dogs do great made the weekend a blast.

Good luck shotgun, I hunted north of Hays and didn't see many pheasants. I talked to some guys that hunted around Russell and limited every day. I'm going out again the weekend after Thanksgiving and I'm gonna try as many different areas as I can. Where are you from?

I am from Grand Blanc, Mi, which is about 60 miles north of Detroit. I could be talked into the Russell area. I will look at the guide to see what kind of public hunting land is in the area.
