If you are a hunter from Nevada or someone who frequently hunts there, this is the place for you.  You can share information about hunting throughout the state or talk about anything you'd like.  Introduce yourself and get to know more about hunting in the great state of Nevada. So, welcome and enjoy!

I have heard that Red Hills In Gardenville (South of Reno) has some duck hunting: http://tiny.cc/np6xH

I'm not sure how far that is from Vegas.

I visit Vegas at least a couple times a year and always wondered what type of upland hunting opportunities existed in the area. Any suggestions for a day hunt out of Vegas? Knowing Vegas, I'm sure anything is available for a price but I'm not a high roller, just an average guy.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

Thanks for the duck tip. I will check it out. I have heard rumors that there are Chukar around here, but am yet to run across them. I know there are quail and dove opportunities at various spots around the valley, but having just moved back to Vegas from Utah, most the spots I knew of are now parks or homes. There are some chances to hunt out by Lake Mead and along the River as well. I will see what I can find online.

Hey guys, new to the forum. I was born and raised in Vegas and have always had a hard time finding birds. I havent duck hunted a lot but I know sunnyside is pretty good for duck. i heard quail was ok there too. I think ill try it this year. I would just like some input on some spots for quail. Im training a GSP, and would like to put him on some birds. Dont really know what ill do for opening day but some birds would be nice. Any ideas?

Just north of Winnemucca Nevada there are quite a few Dove and oh my the Chukar hunting is awesome. Just if you go chukar hunting be prepared to bring an ATV with you. Climbing them rocky hills wears you out Quickly

Oh, one more good spot to hunt Chukar, would be in Yerington Nevada, right behind the Grant Smith Aggregates Quarry. You gotta walk em and it helps to have a dog.

I am also new to this site and looking for others to hunt with and share good hunting spots.  I live east of Reno and hunt mainly in the Fernley, Fallon, Yearington, Gerlach, and Winnemucca areas.

The dove opener for local Vegas areas was poor at best. The monsoon has sent all the targets south.

As far as my opener up here in Northern Nevada, it was poor as well. Went to all the usual spots, as well as scouted near alfalfa fields. No luck, shot at two, only took one. My dog is not a happy camper this year.. We had a torrential downpour and flash flooding out here, not sure if that would drive them south. We have not had any cold snaps. I have heard that Scripps near Washoe Lake produced quite a few limits yesterday.

Hi, I just moved to Southwest Reno from Rhode Island. Little different out here! I've hunted back east for the last 30 years - all upland game but mainly stocked birds except for woodcock and grouse. I have a 10yr old setter who has been dynamite and 3 boys who like to go with me - 5,7 and 10 - none carry a gun yet. I'm looking for some good spots for chukar or quail or even pheasant. I was going to try your spot in yerington. How does that compare to the selenites? I've seen bird activity and prints in dry valley and near smoke creek - but no luck yet. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! Chris

Hi Everyone, I'm new here and am testing the waters. I raise Pheasant in Northern Nevada and am thinking of this year expanding and selling different types of birds. Here the State license is quite expensive and I'm looking to see if it's worth trying. If anyone knows of any clubs that need to buy Ring necks by the hundreds this is what I'm looking for. I will also have the ability to do small orders if there is enough interest. Any in put would be appreciated, Thanks
