We got our first GWP in 1999, after a very thorough search. We were looking for a hunting dog for Tom, that Jodi could compete with at dog shows. We were impressed with the number of Dual Champions in the breed--an indication that this breed was different from a lot of other sporting breeds--a GWP can be a GREAT field dog, and still be very competitive in the show ring.

After one hunting season with Cruiser, our new GWP, Tom didn't want to wait until fall to do more field work, so he became involved in Field Trials. Tom enjoyed field trials for a number of years, and still judges hunt tests and field trials, but now his focus is on hunting! He hopes to have more time in the future to compete in field trials again, but for now he's happy with hunting.
Jodi still enjoys showing the GWPs in the show ring.
We believe that is very important for these dogs to remain "Dual" dogs, so as we continue to breed GWPs, we will always work at breeding dogs that are great hunting dogs/field dogs, and that have correct conformation, coats, AND temperaments!
Because every GWP--hunting dog and show dog, are ultimately pets, we will always work at breeding GWPs with good temperaments.

In 2007 we moved to Wyoming. Tom has enjoyed his new hunting areas in Wyoming, but he still makes regular trips to South Dakota to hunt the Sharptails and pheasant.
