I believe German longhairs are great all around gun dogs that are not as big of runners as most English pointers are. which with their thorough casts and great noses I believe they will serve foot hunters well, they train quickly and are bird crazy and have intense instincts. Longhairs can pretty much take care of it all from upland to waterfowl, they are also used in Germany for blood trailing big game.
