Georgia Quail Hunting and Pheasant Hunting Locations and Preserves
For many years Georgia was recognized as the "Quail Capital of the World." This title was justified by the state's excellent population of bobwhite quail (Colinus virginianus). Georgia's high quail population was the accidental byproduct of low intensity agriculture and forestry practices commonly applied throughout most of the state during the late 1800s - mid 1900s. Georgia also has some excellent pheasant hunting opportunities.

Marsh Hunting Preserve began as a dream of Windel Marsh and his brother, Husmith Marsh, in 1960. Opening in October of 1960 on approximately 400 acres of pine ridges, hardwood branches and 2 ponds, the preserve was a first for the Bulloch County area. Quail hunting was a favorite pastime for many in this vicinity, but paying to hunt was something new and caught on slowly. As the quail population declined, due to the clear-cutting of forests, the population explosion and some believe, the use of Read more about Marsh Hunting Preserve
