We are located in the scenic North Carolina Mountains where you not only get a hunting experience of a lifetime, but also enjoy the breathtaking beauty of thousands of acres of Blue Ridge Mountains where the Russian boar was first introduced to the United States by a wealthy Englishman. They have since spread across North Carolina and into Tennessee and offer the sports person a real challenging trophy. These ill tempered tuskers will often turn away a pack of hounds and charge, so don't be surprised if you become the hunted instead of the hunter. The founder of Chestnut Hunting Lodge is film and television star Jerry Rushing. A real mountain man at heart, known for his steel nerve movie stunts and rawhide toughness in the characters he has portrayed in over 38 movie and television roles including The Dukes of Hazzard which was based on Jerry's life. You can hunt from our tree stands or from an enclosed blind (these are especially nice in foul weather) that are located on well used trails or in feed areas. If you prefer you can take the challenge of stalking your game or have the thrill of hearing our hounds strike a "hot trail". Duck Creek Taxidermy, located on the grounds of Chestnut Hunting Lodge, is owned and operated by Darlene Tarlton. Our White Tail Deer area is a 5-mile stretch of heavy timbered mountain land, dotted with fields and well-planted food plots. The area is fed by mountain springs that offer an abundant water supply. Electronic game feeders and feed stations keep a lasting supply of high protein feed for these monster White Tail Deer.
