Buchanan Shoals is designed for special clientele who enjoy all the amenities and services associated with a premier hunting preserve while allowing year-round access to its members. Buchanan Shoals offers full guide services for all hunting and outdoor activities taking place on our preserve. Whether you would like to sit back in a hunt-buggy and watch us work our dogs for an afternoon of quail hunting, or you would like a one-on-one morning of turkey hunting in bottomland hardwoods, our hard working staff is always there to meet your needs. Facilities are available for members to store such things as ATV's, boats, climbing stands and camping equipment. Buchanan Shoals also has a full service kennel available to members who wish to keep their dogs on site. In the fall of 2005, Buchanan Shoals opened its doors to the public for preserve quail hunting. These hunts will be allowed only on a limited basis, and all hunts must be booked in advance. Since Buchanan Shoals is a private preserve, when you arrive as our guest it is like having your own private quail plantation. Buchanan Shoals occupies 5,300 acres in southern Anson and Richmond Counties, NC as well as Chesterfield County, SC. The property is located on the Great Pee Dee River, with over 7 miles of frontage on the river. Buchanan Shoals is a collage of pine uplands, young pine plantations, upland hardwood glades, bottomland hardwood forests, and open broom straw fields. These distinctive habitat conditions offer hunting for all major wildlife species in the south including: waterfowl, trophy whitetail deer, turkey, quail, and dove.
