"Spotted Setter Kennels was born out of a passion for father/son bird hunting and walking behind a quality English Setter. In the early 1900's Spotted Setter Kennels was born out of a passion for father/son bird hunting and walking behind a quality English Setter.
In the early 1900's quail were abundant in the North Louisiana fields and fencerows. The evolution of deer hunting and duck hunting had not arrived, therefore small game hunting was king and the king of kings was quail! A-5 Brownings, a pick-up, and a bird dog made for a perfect afternoon for many in the delta and hills of North Louisiana. Bird dogs, of all kinds, were in great number as a result of this era....champion bird dogs most would say..... Unfortunately the fencerows became larger fields, the pesticides grew harsher and the fireants took over the ground and North Louisiana lost its bountiful Quail population and with its population of birds diminishing so followed the number of hunters, champion bird dogs, and miles of walking between fathers and sons. Fortunately there are a few old timers that remain spirited in these parts. Stories of the ""good-ole-days"" continue to be shared and trips to the quail rich west are still frequented each fall and winter. Spotted Setter Kennels exist to provide well bread champion blood line puppies and started dogs to those who wish to continue their passion for the gamebird hunt or for those who desire to be tempted by the greatest of upland bird hunting."
