Windswept came to be my kennel name about 1967, when I started raising and showing Borzoi. I showed them in conformation and obedience, and produced many champions and obedience titles. The Borzoi did especially well at specialties. I had to give it up in the mid 70s when I had 3 teenagers that kept me too busy to continue. In 1984, I acquired my first Labrador Retriever. Her name was Windswept Impish Ms Somebody. She was black and the light of my life. "Sunny" loved to hunt and fish and we had a lot of fun together. When she was two years old and had her hip and eye clearances, I bred her. She had twelve pups. Somehow I got kept by a yellow male, who I named Windswept Somebody's Spark and called him, Spike.
After my husband passed away, I decided to go back to showing dogs, because I missed it and needed something to do. My dogs are the love of my life and I spend a lot of time researching who to breed my bitches to, to improve the breed. My motto is "Each new generation is supposed to be better than the previous one". All of my breeding stock has their clearances before they are bred.
I am a small breeder, in Central New York, near Binghamton, and take pride in the dogs I show and the puppies I raise. I am now in my seventh generation of Windswept Labrador Retrievers.
