The pheasant hunting lodge has really come a long way in the last couple decades.
Preserves started out as pieces of land where there might be a cabin for guests to stay. In many of the early cases it wasn’t uncommon to stay outdoors while pheasant hunting during hunting hours.
The popularity of pheasant hunting has grown especially in South Dakota over the last few years. There are great places to hunt throughout the state, but some prefer the hunting available on the hunting lodges and preserves.
These properties are maintained specifically for pheasant hunting. The habitat is kept pristine to make sure the birds have everything they need to thrive. It’s a contrast to how farming and oil and gas development has taken over other parts of the West and Midwest.
We’ve been seeing the change in habitat recently in Iowa and North Dakota.
And now pheasant hunting lodges are expanding into more areas including the wedding industry.
The BBB Lodge in Parker, South Dakota is now offering weddings to anyone that wants a beautiful ceremony and reception set against the backdrop of real South Dakota pheasant country.
For outdoor lovers it’s a great chance to spend the important moment outdoors. Family and friends can enjoy the views and even walk out in the field and in the woods.
It’s great to see lodges adding revenue streams like this. I imagine some wedding parties are even having a few of the guests look into hunting before or after the ceremony if the birds are in season. It’s a great way to spend time together with people you might not get to see regularly.
Pheasant hunting lodges seem to have been successful over the last few decades. It’s great that they give hunters a place to experience pheasant hunting and if they can continue to find ways to be successful it means good things for future pheasant hunters.
