DEM TO STOCK ADDITIONAL PHEASANT IN STATE MANAGEMENT AREAS
PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management will stock pheasant two more times before the pheasant hunting season ends on December 31, providing hunters with additional opportunities to go afield during the latter part of this year's upland game season. Usually, the last pheasant stocking is done for the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend.
A total of 795 birds will be stocked after sunset on Friday, December 15 and Friday, December 22, weather permitting. The birds will be released in state management areas at Durfee Hill, Black Hut, and Buck Hill in Providence County; Sapowet and Simmons Mill in Newport County; Nicholas Farm and Big River in Kent County; and Arcadia, Carolina, and Great Swamp in Washington County.
