Mossy Oak's Hunting the Country Moves to TOC; Network Becomes Exclusive Distributor of Legendary Outdoor Television Producer
Friday May 28, 1:55 pm ET

TEMECULA, Calif., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Long recognized as a leader in outdoor television programming, Mossy Oak's flagship program "Hunting the Country" (HTC) moves to The Outdoor Channel (TOC), effectively making TOC the exclusive distributor of all Mossy Oak productions. HTC will join TOC's highly-rated Tuesday Night Pursuits lineup with a brand-new season this fall.

"We're excited to be moving Hunting the Country to TOC because we believe no one has a handle on the outdoors like the people at The Outdoor Channel," said Ronnie "Cuz" Strickland, Mossy Oak's senior vice president for media services. "They understand the message we bring to the table, which is much bigger than just hunting. It's about the resource, the land, stewardship and the responsibility we have to pass on the outdoor and hunting tradition."

Each episode of Mossy Oak's Hunting the Country is a 30-minute trip into the nation's great outdoors for adventures that hit close to home. With a firm base of whitetail hunting, along with other big game and wild turkey, each week brings an experience that is both new and familiar to the viewer.

"We focus more than anything on what viewers can relate to," Strickland said. "This season, along with the best footage we've ever captured, we're doing a much better and bigger job of storytelling which, in the end, is what good television is all about."

"Hunting The Country is definitely good television," TOC Senior VP of Programming, Wade Sherman said. "Adding this top quality, highly popular show to the TOC lineup is an obvious and desirable step to providing all the best outdoor television entertainment America wants on one channel. We are delighted to make this announcement."

Mossy Oak founder and CEO, Toxey Haas embraced the idea. "We've been involved with the people at The Outdoor Channel since the company's formation, and we're honored to now have our flagship show airing on their network. Having worked closely with Wade Sherman and the rest of The Outdoor Channel team, we've seen first-hand that their grasp of the gifts America's outdoorsmen share is rock solid. As stewards of the Lord's bountiful natural places, we all have the responsibility to preserve and pass on hunting's heritage. I can't imagine a better way to do that than through The Outdoor Channel."

The Mossy Oak production team has captured the American sportsman's attention since 1996 and has led the way with many innovations and improvements in outdoor programming. And their ultimate focus remains the same: HTC continues to deliver programming for hunters, produced about and by hunters.

In addition to the prime Tuesday night spot at 9:00 PM, HTC will also air Sundays at 9:30 AM and Fridays at 1:30 PM. (All times EST.)

Mossy Oak Productions is also producing TOC's new STEP OUTSIDE program scheduled to launch in July on TOC.
