HUNTING LICENSE IS SECOND DLNR E-SERVICE TO BE SOLD ON-LINE
State hunting licenses are now available online to the public. Department of Land and Natural Resources has introduced yet another on-line e-service, purchase of hunting licenses, available to resident and visitor hunters via the DLNR's web site at www.state.hi.us/dlnr/. It marks DLNR's second step into cyber-trade since the department became the first state agency last June to sell a government e-service on-line through Governor Cayetano's Access Hawai`i program.
Several state government services such as information searches, legislative bill tracking, and the downloading of forms are already available on-line through various state agencies.
According to Gilbert Coloma-Agaran, DLNR Chairperson, "We re continuing to work very hard to make it as easy as possible for the public to get the permits, licenses and other information they need to enjoy the outdoors without having to navigate through office buildings and wait in line. The hunting and freshwater fishing licenses are the beginning of what we hope will be many on-line products."
A hunting license will cost: $16.25 for residents and military (on-line convenience fee of $1.25 included), $106.50 for non-residents (on-line convenience fee of $6.50 included). The license is free for resident senior citizens 65 years of age or older and for residents of Kalaupapa with Hansen's Disease. A duplicate of a hunting license previously purchased via the web site may be obtained for $5.
All hunting license purchasers must have either a valid Hawai`i Hunter Education Card, or have a letter of exemption from the Hawai`i Hunter Education Program. For information about the program or the license, call 587-0200.
Hunters in Hawai`i enjoy hunting deer, pigs, sheep, and goats. Also game birds such as doves, quail, francolin, pheasants and chukars. For more information on seasons and regulations, call the Division of Forestry and Wildlife or view the hunting program web site at: http://www.state.hi.us/dlnr/dcre/know.htm#Game%20Animals%20in%20Hawaii
Residents and visitors can also purchase any of six different types of freshwater fishing licenses on-line. These license types range from licenses for minors to 30-day tourist licenses.
The freshwater fishing licenses are available at: www.state.hi.us/dlnr/
DLNR's Data Processing Office and Division of Aquatic Resources, and eHawaiiGov, the state's Internet portal provider, created the on-line service as part of an on-going effort to make it easier for the public to interact with Hawai`i's various government agencies.
Future on-line services from DLNR will include camping permits, cabin rentals, commercial hiking permits, commercial fishing licenses and vessel registration, among others.
