Indiana Institutes Late Deer Hunting Regulations
From the Indiana DNR
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has instituted two new emergency deer hunting rules that modify regulations for this year's deer hunting seasons.
The first emergency rule allows deer hunters 48 hours, instead of 24, to take a deer to a check station. The rule also allows individuals other than the person who killed the deer to take it to the check station.
This new rule prohibits the possession of electronic deer calls in the field while hunting.
The rule also requires commercial deer processors to register with the DNR through a local conservation officer.
Although these changes are an emergency rule, they will become permanent on October 23, 2004 when the 2004 administrative rule revision package becomes law.
A second emergency rule allows a person using a deer license generated by the upcoming Web-based licensing system to make a temporary deer transportation tag using a piece of paper stating the name and address of the hunter and the date and sex of the deer taken. This is the same tagging requirement used by youth and lifetime license holders.
This emergency rule clarifies the temporary transportation tag requirements until the deer is taken to a check station.
