Youth Pheasant Hunt participants sought
Youth ages 10-17 have an opportunity to go pheasant hunting for free.
The northwest Wyoming Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation's fifth annual Youth Pheasant Hunt will be Saturday, Dec. 4.
The day starts at 8 a.m. with trap shooting at the Cody Shooting Complex. Each hunter will have a personal coach to help them shoot clay targets.
The group will then travel to Lane 16 between Cody and Ralston for safety instructions and preparation for the hunt. Directions to the hunt area will be provided at the shooting complex.
All hunters will be accompanied in the field by an adult and a dog handler. Hunters will have the opportunity to take two pheasants of either sex.
After the hunt, lunch will be provided for hunters and parents or guardians. There is no cost to participants, and shotguns and shells are available with advance notice.
Membership in the National Wild Turkey Federation is not required. Hunters who are not members will receive a complimentary JAKES membership.
Any youth who want to participate, especially those who may not otherwise be able to go pheasant hunting, are encouraged to call Joe Desson or Mike Schnell, 587-5533, or Desson evenings, 527-5090.
