The Beginning

As a avid hunter and owner of a website development company I was frustrated by the lack of information on places to hunt upland birds on the internet. So I got to thinking what if I built a site that listed all the places to hunt pheasants and upland birds in North America? It sounded like a simple idea at first but I quickly discovered that there wasn't a good source of up to date information for out there that listed all the hunting clubs by state. It was soon apparent that this was to be much more that just a hobby or simple project.

Due to my intriest in hunting and the hunting industry in general my company had already developed quite a few outdoor and hunting related sites inducing the site for Macfarlane Pheasants (The industry leader in pheasant production) so I approached Bill MacFarlane with my idea and he was excited about it. In fact he decided to partner up on the project and www.gamebirdhunts.com was born.

Gamebirdhunts.com Today:

The mission of gamebirdhunts.com today remains the same as it was at our start over 5 years ago:

• To provide reliable and well organized information to the upland hunter on places to hunt.
• To provide the upland hunter with information and legislation that affects the sport.
• To allow hunts to connect and share ideas related to upland hunting topics.

The Future of Gamebirdhunts.com:

Currently we are in the process of updating all the listings on our site to include links to reviews, a general map of each clubs location and a way for the surfer to report broken links on the site. This update is over 50% complete in the hunting section and when completed we will begin working on the sporting clays section of the site adding the same features discussed above.

Our pheasant facts section continues to grow and we have plans to add many new articles of interest to that section this year as well.

In 2006 we are planning a major upgrade to the recipes sections well making it more user friendly to submit recipes and search functionality is going to be added to this section.
