pheasant brood survey showed only a 6 percent drop in
pheasant numbers one year after the population of birds

2006 Minnestoa Pheasant Hunting Season Outlook
Over all pheasant populations are up slightly up in Minnesota compared to last year, which is good news for the Minnesota pheasant hunter. The best opportunity for harvesting pheasants appears to be in the Southwest region, although good opportunities will likely also be available in the West Central and Central regions. Population indices for ring-necked pheasants in 2006 were similar to last year. Pheasant Hunting Season Outlook For North Dakota
Drought in part of the state hasn't put a damper on the upcoming pheasant hunting season.
Wildlife officials estimate that the state's pheasant population is up 37 percent from last year.
The season opens Saturday and runs through January Seventh.
Game and Fish biologists say hunters likely will match, and maybe exceed last year's harvest of 809,000 thousand roosters.
