We are Northeast Iowa's Only and Most Unique Hunt and Gun Club. "After several decades dairy farming, we thought hunting with you would be a lot more fun!" Pheasant's, quail and chukar are in good supply for hunting from September 1st to March 31st and year round dog training with no legal bag limits. Along with 800 acres of woods and fields, we have 6 ponds for fishing and duck hunting.
We can comfortably handle large or small groups without seeing another hunter in the field! The 113 year old dairy barn has been refurbished into a rustic, comfortable lodge where we can accommodate meetings, parties and dances.
Along with numerous animal mounts, you will see many antiques [1872 corn planter, in working condition]. The original beams and timbers have been preserved just the way my ancestors built the barn in 1889. |

As a licensed hunting preserve, our hunting season for pheasant runs from September 1 to March 31. Hunting licenses may be purchased at the preserve. Our habitat and hunting areas continue to increase, enabling larger and multiple hunting parties. Smaller hunts will be half-day hunts, either morning or afternoon. Larger hunts may book for the full day. We learned that different people expect different hunts. |

Pheasant Haven has always had a lot of pheasants and done a lot of hunting with friends and relatives, since many of the farms around them have little cover left after the grain harvest. Theirs has a lot of natural feed & cover,( river and drainage ditch banks, gravel pits, wooded areas, hillsides with grass & brush) resulting in a migration of birds to our farm. Pheasant Haven seeded their pastures to prairie grass and started planting corn & sorghum plots for more cover and feed. They also started raising birds in a cornfield with a net over it to produce wild, flight conditioned pheasants, since with a preserve, the state requires that you replace the birds harvested, plus 20%. |

LAST SEASON WE
AVERAGED OVER 90% HARVEST LIMITS. Pretty impressive, wouldn't you say? All game
is hunted and harvested in a completely natural way and the birds are naturally and aggressively
WILD. The difference is, YOU WILL SEE AND GET BIRDS AND LOTS OF THEM. All of
your shooting is not done in a group within a half hour period with a "bunch" of birds in the air all at
once. You'll hunt the whole day, harvest birds right along and probably not "limit-out" until the
last portion of your day. YOU PAY FOR A FULL DAYS HUNTING AND THAT IS WHAT
YOU GET.

Have You Hugged a Pheasant Hunter Today?
Pheasant hunters outnumber all other Iowa hunters. Revenue from licenses, wildlife habitat stamps and excise taxes on sporting arms and ammunition provides money needed for many Iowa DNR programs, including land acquisition, habitat development, wildlife management and wildlife research. These activities ultimately result in better habitat conditions for a wide variety of upland wildlife species.
Iowa pheasant hunting is also important to the economy. Owners of restaurants, service stations, discount centers, motels, and grocery, hardware, dry goods and sporting goods stores all benefit from money spent by the Iowa pheasant hunter. Many hotels/motels in Iowa have no vacancies during the first few weekends of Iowa’s pheasant season. According to the most recent survey, Iowa residents and non- residents spend $85 million annually, exclusive of license fees, to hunt pheasants in Iowa. Through multiplier effects, spending by retailers and wholesalers as result of the hunter’s original purchase, pheasant hunting generates an additional $154 million of additional spending annually. Taken together pheasant hunting’s impact on the Iowa economy approaches almost a quarter billion dollars annually.
