Here on the preserve, we try to revive the traditional Northeast Kansas quail hunts of the past. Located in the northern part of the Vinland Valley, Eckman Hunting Preserve has several hundred acres of prime habitat for Northeast Kansas hunting. Eckmans also offers Eruopean Hunts On our new eight- to twelve-station course, you will rotate periodically between stations, which are located around a 24-foot tower in a tall tree creek bottom. Each station has its own difficulty level. Our hard-flying pheasants will be approximately 30-40 feet over your head, and several dogs will be working hard to find all downed birds. Once an old fashioned milk house, our newly-renovated clubhouse is the perfect place to warm up and relax after your hunt.

At Flint Hills Hunts I specialize in providing guided deer and upland game hunts tailored to your group's desires. Western Kansas is known for its pheasant hunting but central Kansas has the best of both worlds with quail as the bonus bird! With the right conditions, these crafty birds can be hunted using pointing dogs with great success. If the weather is cold or snowy, roosters tend to hold tight under the CRP grass and allow some pointed shooting. When conditions don't favor pointing dogs, we switch to flushing and retrieving dogs and push the likely areas towards blockers.
Pheasant hunting is like quail hunting on steroids, it's fast paced and you must be in shape regardless of the tactics used. Wild pheasant would rather run than fly until they establish a comfort space between you and them. For this reason, hunters must stay close to the dogs and be ready to shoot at all times. Hot days can make these birds almost impossible to hunt, both from an individual comfort issue and their increasing willingness to run instead of flying. It is for these reasons that we suggest you book your hunt for quail and hunt pheasant if the weather is accommodating. |

| Outstanding habitat! Maintained bird population! The upland bird-hunting season within our Controlled Shooting Areas (CSA) runs from October 1st through March 31st. We also offer native hunts from the second week in November through January 31st. Hunts are complemented with a friendly guide (gunless) to ensure that you have an enjoyable outdoor experience, hunting dog (hunters are welcome to bring their own dogs if desired), coffee breaks, noon lunch plus cleaned and packaged birds. Guests need only bring gun, ammo (6 shot or heavier required), blaze orange hat or vest, outdoor clothing, some type of eye protection and cooler (for processed birds). We limit our groups to no more than 6 hunters per guide. Pricing based upon two or more hunters. Single hunters please call for rate. Half day hunts available. A Kansas hunting license or a CSA permit is required to hunt. Non-resident CSA licenses available on site for approximately $16.00 US versus $71.00 non-resident hunting licenses.
