DK Wildlife Ranch is managed and operated by a professional Habitat Biologist, Geo. Dern and his wife Jo Dern. They do not ranch nor do they farm -- managed 100% for wildlife and pheasant in particular.
They have encouraged native Willamette Valley vegetation and manage it to provide optimum cover density, height and diversity. Invasive species, such as Blackberry and Scotch Broom, are controlled aggressively with herbicides and mowing. They have all Roosters and all of their hunters enjoy exclusive private hunts. DK Wildlife encourages their hunters to use their own dogs but have several excellent pointers (Griffon and Pudelpointers) and their handlers if you wish to use them. They also offer a hunters clay course as an option for fun and warm up -- cool down. Shots simulate what you may find during your hunt.

This is not a put and take hunting preserve. There are many acres separate from the waterfowl areas where you can enjoy hunting pheasant in moderate to heavy cover, varying from canals and fence rows, ditches and cut grain fields, alfalfa and sage brush areas as well as areas grown especially for pheasant hunting. Our birds are released prior to, as well as during the season. Birds introduced during the season are only released in the closed portion of the ranch. There are lots of carry over birds from previous seasons because only half the ranch is open to pheasant hunting. This practice provides sanctuary within the ranch and assures a supply of older birds which are constantly migrating into the hunting areas. You will find our birds equal to any wild birds you have hunted. Mature birds and lots of varied cover add up to CHALLENGING HUNTING OPPORTUNITIES.
