For a guy that has kicked game winning field goals in multiple Super Bowls you wouldn’t think much would shake Adam Vinatieri. The Colts place kicker has been one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL for years and his passions go beyond the field in stadiums. Adam is a big time big game hunter.

The entire story of Adam and his hunting pastimes are mentioned in a full story from the Florida Times. Adam mentions that he was born and raised in South Dakota where he regularly harvested pheasants while hunting them in the fields around his home.

Adam was only a young boy, maybe four or five years old, when his dad starting taking him outdoors. He eventually grew to love hunting pheasants in South Dakota cornfields. Now that he’s older and has the means he loves trekking around the working to harvest even larger game.

It would be easy to imagine that Adam still loves grabbing that shotgun and getting back to his upland bird hunting roots. There are quite a few thrills around the world when it comes to hunting big game, but no bird hunter would argue that the sound of a pheasant flying up out of the field is music in nature’s wonderful world.

It’s always great to read about celebrities that enjoy hunting. The hunting community has been lucky to have many musicians, especially country music artists, that love hunting. These folks bring a positive light to the sport of hunting where many around the nation are quick to judge the nature of the sport.

Adam Vinatieri isn’t the only NFL player that loves hunting. There have been quite a few over the years that have brought positive attention to the sport. It’s great to see a wonderful story about Adam, a South Dakota native. His love for hunting started with pheasants just as it has for thousands of other bird hunters across the US.

We wish Adam the best of luck in his future hunts. Who knows, maybe once his career is over in the NFL he’ll get his own hunting show on TV. It would be great to see him get back out on a different field to harvest some of the elusive birds of the US.
