Hunting for quail in Texas has been difficult in recent years. The population of the birds has dropped significantly since the ‘60s and ‘70s. An entire generation of quail hunters that grew up hunting the birds every year have all but disappeared and have been unable to pass on the tradition to their children and grandchildren.

This would be enough to make a hunter feel bad, but one hunter found a way to pass on the traditions of quail hunting in Texas.

Luke Clayton wrote about his experience hunting in the past. He remembers fondly his experiences in the field hunting quail. Sure, he remembers the birds and the shooting, but more than that he remembers the people he was hunting with. It was those experiences that really made the tradition something special and it killed him that the quail in his area of Texas have all but disappeared.

He tried traveling over the years to find the birds, but was never able to find anything like the experiences he had back in the heyday.

That was until he stumbled on a Texas quail hunting resort. The preserve is one of many in the US where birds are raised and released to ensure a great hunt for everyone involved.

Some might argue that hunting on a resort is not really hunting, but when you’re making memories and passing on the tradition to younger hunters does it really matter?

Hunting is all about enjoying the time you have with the ones you care about most. The friends and family you have can become part of a greater relationship with the experiences of hunting.

If you’re looking for a positive way to build these relationships you can consider hunting at resorts and preserves. You’ll have a great time and establish lasting memories.

That’s really what hunting is all about.
