The largest show in the country for upland hunters, bird dog owners and wildlife habitat conservationists is heading to Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic will be held at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee this upcoming February 14-16. While Madison hosted the event back in 2009, this is the first time for Milwaukee, the largest city in the state.

Wisconsin’s “rich conservation tradition” is one reason why Pheasants Forever wanted the state to host this upcoming year. Wisconsin has more than 30 Pheasant Forever chapters and more than 700,000 licensed hunters. What’s more, the Badger State sends the second most upland hunters to the Dakotas each year. The only state that sends more is Minnesota.

While Wisconsin may not be the first state that comes to mind when thinking about pheasant hunting, it’s hard not to argue that Wisconsin hunters are passionate about their sport. Pheasants Forever is hoping to feed off of that passion to put on another exciting Classic that will bring together hunters of all ages and experience levels.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, The National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic is a family event that, according to organizers, “combines a national outdoor trade show, wildlife habitat seminar series and a family event complete with puppies, tractors, shotguns and art.”

The event is open to the public and regularly sees visitors from all over the Midwest. Last year, when the event was hosted in Minneapolis, it drew almost 30,000 people. This year, organizers are hoping to see similar numbers.

It is also important to note that the Pheasant Forever chapters will spend 100% of the funds they raise on local conservation projects. To get more information on The National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic, visit
